WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE ~ OTHELLO
Our overall goal is wellness -- Mental, Physical and Spiritual. Ways in which we achieve these goals include:
We work on body parts not addressed in many classes such as brain/body and hands. We also incorporate exercises you may recognize from physical therapy -- all to improve your body's functionality.
BLISS is all about YES, YOU CAN! We welcome anyone wanting to be part of this community.
It doesn't matter what age you are, we welcome you, and you WILL get benefit. Any physical condition is OK as long as your doctor supports it -- sitting, standing, the benefits are there. Our instructor had a bad injury, followed by surgery, which required her to lead class from a wheelchair and then a chair. Almost a year later, she may still sit down during the low-impact portion.
Don't worry about the shape you're in NOW. The goal is to improve your condition no matter where you're starting from. We come in all shapes, sizes and races, and BLISS is a safe, non judgmental, space to relax, participate, and be a part of the group.
We love to have a mixed group of men and women, and children 10 and older may participate also.
The Dalai Lama was quoted as saying, “Happiness is not something ready made. It comes from your own actions.” He also said, “A simple smile. That’s the start of opening your heart and being compassionate to others.” He is a big proponent of BEING HAPPY and we agree!
Relax, BLISS is about having fun while being part of a wonderful group. We joke around as we exercise, and smiles are encouraged - laughs, too!
Through all of the above, BLISS forms a strong community. You may not know anyone when you first come to class, but you soon will. The focus on emotional well-being and mindfulness adds benefits rarely seen in an exercise class. Come join us and see for yourself if BLISS is a good fit for you. There is no obligation and your first time is FREE!
Wonderful outdoor exercise (or Zoom when rainy or cold). Bonus? Yes, of course—great new friends. Couldn’t be a better way to start the day.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my workouts with BLISS. Being outside has been special. We have a great group of people. Mary Scott is a good instructor and changes our music and workout frequently. Our group is not all on the same level and she makes sure everyone gets something out of coming. It's really been great!

I’ve found that BLISS class has helped me become more agile, and it helps me in my balance. I’ve also lost some weight as a result of coming to class three or four times a week.

I joined BLISS to achieve a personal goal of getting some regular exercise. The class has provided that and much more. The emphasis on stretching, balance, and light aerobics has been incredibly beneficial. I am more flexible, and my stamina and balance are much improved. Exercising outdoors is amazing. Whether the weather is hot, cold, or just right, we focus on the gifts that each day brings. But most important is the community of caring friends that has formed from this class. Mary Scott is not only a fabulous coach, she is also a most considerate friend who inspires us to be our best selves.

I am 74 and a widow. During the COVID period of 2020, I lost 30 lbs. It was very hard, but I was able to do it by using three tools: an app called “Lose It” where I tracked my calories consumed every day (and I did this religiously and still do); by walking 3-6 miles daily at least 5 days per week; and by attending BLISS outdoor exercise class. BLISS has been so important to me in that it loosens up my muscles after walking (especially my lower back muscles), and the fellowship has been wonderful during that dark period of not being able to associate with people inside. I have made friends that I would never have known, and they have become part of my “community family”. The music is fun, Mary Scott is so much fun, and we always leave with big smiles on our faces until the next class. I would encourage anyone to give it a try; it has made such a difference in my life over the past 2 years.

I have had the pleasure of being involved with this wonderful group for two years. This very strong, spiritual, witty and inspirational person, who happens to be my neighbor, brought us all together during a very difficult time when some of us were very unsure about our futures and the state of the world. I would not be where I am now, in such a happy place, both physically and mentally, had it not been for the vision of this beautiful person! I also have such treasured friendships, full of love and support, from this group. I feel being a part of this group has made me a better person as well. I am very lucky.

I don’t know what I would have done without BLISS during the COVID lockdown! It was truly a lifesaver! Mary Scott creates a warm, friendly, non-threatening atmosphere and makes exercise class a fun, safe place to be. Not only have I benefited from the physical activity but from the social time as well. New friendships have been made and old ones renewed. Who would have thought that 2 years later we would still be going strong?

This class has many benefits, and the main ones for me: it has made it possible for me to strengthen my arms and shoulders; Sleeping on my side is easier; and the total stretch helps me feel better all over.

I've had such a great time being part of the BLISS Bunch! I've gotten benefits from every aspect of the class - not just toning up, being much more flexible, and losing weight. I'm so happy when I've with the group and it carries over to the rest of my day. It has made everything we've gone through the last couple of years easier. I seem to handle things better and certainly feel better overall. Thank you BLISS!
TAYLOR
My ortho doc was so impressed with my quick recovery after knee replacement! Thanks to Bliss and the constant encouragement that kept my whining to a minimum!
SANDY
BLISS has blessed me and many others in our neighborhood, as we've reached that age when bending over and picking up anything seems an almost impossible task. It seems the ground gets further away each year, but our exercises at BLISS have made “the distance” within reach. Stretching muscles and joints is necessary for good mobility, and we get plenty of stretching at BLISS. Exercise improves both body and mind. We exercise both! Another side benefit is the opportunity to socialize with neighbors and others whom we know but not well, as we linger afterwards to discuss important events in our lives.
BUZZ
BLISS has been extremely beneficial to me—not only as a great way to get outside and get much-needed exercise, but it also has become a fun, affirming community of friends for me. Mary Scott has done an excellent job of building both of these areas.
JUDY
BLISS provided a need to get outdoors safely, to exercise and to meet with others during Covid. It became and is an important and fun part of my week, and now I also learn that BLISS directing impacts my health.
Following this year’s echocardiogram, I learned that for the first time my heart muscle is stronger than before. I know that participating in BLISS class is the reason.
